Our partners include professional, community, and collegiate bands and orchestras who will be making recordings of music by minoritized composers.

1. Working recordings: Rehearsal recordings for emerging composers are critical in the learning process. It might sound great through the midi, but in real life…not so much. Knowing what it will “really” sound like is a skill that takes years to develop. Emerging composers will be paired with ensembles to create “working” recordings during the writing process. Ensemble members (often music teachers themselves!) will also send individual feedback about their parts. Composers will have the opportunity to make changes and the ensembles will create additional recordings. Not for public consumption, this relationship will help emerging composers to refine their art.

   
   

2. Performance recordings: Quality recordings are a critical component to a composer’s ability to sell their music and a huge financial burden for someone who is just starting out. These recordings are also critical for teachers to be able to find and choose excellent new music. Professional ensembles will record your new music!
